Shoulder pain.
Pain reaching overhead, a shoulder that aches after lifting or throwing, a joint that won’t let you sleep on that side. The shoulder is the most mobile joint you have, which also makes it easy to strain.
Book a first visitCommon causes
- Rotator cuff tendon irritation
- Rounded posture that pinches the front of the shoulder
- Overuse from lifting, throwing, swimming or racket sports
- A stiff upper back that makes the shoulder do extra work
- Pain that actually starts in the neck
How we find the cause
We check the shoulder and everything that drives it: the neck, the upper back and how your shoulder blade moves. Posture analysis, a nerve scan, and x-rays in our office when your exam calls for them.
How we treat it
- Adjustments for the shoulder joint itself. Dr. Mallory and Dr. Brett both specialize in extremities.
- Adjustments for the neck and upper back that feed the shoulder.
- Soft-tissue work, plus SoftWave for stubborn tendon pain.
- Mobility and strength work so it holds up under training.
What helps right now
- Keep it moving within a pain-free range. Rest isn’t the same as stillness.
- Ice after activity if it flares.
- Avoid sleeping on the sore side for now.
From CREW patients
“I’ve been going to Crew to get Softwave therapy for shoulder pain. Ben is very knowledgeable about this treatment and has been instrumental in helping me resolve the pain and avoid a surgery.”
“This was my first experience with a chiropractor and they have helped educate and answer any questions along the way. I came for help with my shoulder and have continued to get adjustments now for over a year.”
Common questions
Do chiropractors adjust shoulders?
We do. Extremities are a specialty here, and many shoulder problems need the shoulder, the shoulder blade and the spine treated together.
Can I keep lifting?
Usually, with changes. We’ll show you which movements to modify and which to keep.
What if I’ve torn my rotator cuff?
Your exam will tell us whether you need imaging or an orthopedic opinion. If you do, we’ll refer you, and we can often work alongside that care.
